Breakdown of Instances of
Corporal Punishment since 1 January 1980
Attached is a table showing the number of
persons sentenced to corporal punishment each year
since 1980.

In the nine years from 1980-1988
(inclusive), 97 people have been sentenced to
corporal punishment, an average of about 11 per
year. In the last four years, 21 people have
received corporal punishment - an average of about
five per year.
