Further meetings were held on 28 September 1988 and 3 November 1988 for the purpose of exchanging views on the policy proposals and in the hope that the Law Society would agree to participate in the drawing up of an effective scheme of control as envisaged by the proposals.

On 7 November 1988, the Attorney General wrote to the President of the Law Society setting out, in detail, the issues which needed to be addressed. No reply has been received from the Law Society and there has been no further direct contact between the Law Society and the
Administration since that time.
