Unhelpful that today's press has focussed on operation to move 48
boat people to Phoenix House

Correctional Services Department Officers did encounter some
token resistance from a few of those moved. But this was handled
without serious difficulty. All boat people involved were examined by medical officers before and after operation. Apart from minor
scratches, no serious injuries sustained.

No truth in Van Leeuwen's claim report in Daily Telegraph that Governor is to order investigation.
Van Leeuwen's reported statement that 2,000 volunteers are
waiting to return is also untrue. UNHCR's latest figure is 1,002. Figure quoted by Van Leeuwen is his personal estimate of number who
might be prepared to volunteer.
