52% of people said that they had confidence that Hong Kong will continue to be prosperous and stable (9% a great deal of confidence and 43% some confidence). 39% said they did not have confidence (35% little confidence and 4% no confidence at all), and 9% gave "don't know" answers.

81% of respondents replied that they did not have any actual plan or action for emigrating to other countries, and 16% replied positively.

Among people replying that there were problems in Hong Kong, the percentage mentioning "Hong Kong Future" as a problem remained at about 30% from 1986 to 1988 and jumped to 56% in August 1989;

"Transport-related problems" topped the list of problems of most concern to people personally in June and December 1988, then it declined to the fourth position in August 1989;
