Why is it that something seems to be different in
MR MARTIN LEE: The China factor. China looms large in Hong
Kong over everything. And if China says no, it is very
difficult to find people who disagree with that to come
forward to make his views known. when we were asking for
signatures in the mass transit stations and so on, asking
people to support us on the democratic cause, very often
people would come up to me and say, 'Mr. Lee,' or 'Mr. Szeto
Wah', who, you will hear tomorrow, 'of course we support you,
but how can I put my name down with my Identity Card number?
I've got my children to think about.' That is the reality
of the situation.
