Thank you for your letter of 27 July to the Secretary of State. I am sorry for the delay in replying.

At present the Secretary of State has no plans to visit Hong Kong. He is nonetheless very pleased that the Chamber is proving to be such a successful enterprise, and sends every good wish for its further development.

You will have been pleased to see the recent announcement that the visit to Hong Kong by TRHS The Prince and Princess of Wales is to go ahead.

It is very much in the interest of the British business community in Hong Kong that the 'Britain in Hong Kong' exhibition should be a success.

Unfortunately the Secretary of State's diary is heavily committed during your visit in early October and he will therefore be unable to meet you. However, Lord Trefgarne, the Minister for Trade would be pleased to see you: please contact his office (Rosemary Howard on 215 5012) to make arrangements.

Your sincerel

for Sococh.
