British citizenship under Section 4(5) if they wish to do so.

ENTRY CERTIFICATE IS NOT ADEQUATE INSURANCE. CROWN SERVANTS NEED

CITIZENSHIP, AS PROVIDED FOR UNDER SECTION 4(5) OF THE BNA.

This is another of questions we are examining in our current

review. I would be interested to hear more of the arguments for

UNDERTAKINGS

All I can say is that in certain limited cases, certain rights

of admission for Crown Servants exist at the discretion of the Home

our Nationality and Immigration legislation. In that context I would welcome any comments/suggestions for a way ahead.

CERTAIN JOBS IN THE UK CIVIL SERVICE?

Special circumstances of Hong Kong will be taken into account.

Such cases would be taken on their merit on a case by case basis.

For your own information only I can assure you that HMG does not

consider that service in Hong Kong after 1997 should be counted as

service with a Communist government.
