Elspeth and I are most grateful to you and your
OMELCO colleagues for the excellent dinner on 3 July.
I was also particularly grateful to you for the advice
you offered throughout the visit. You may be assured that I shall continue to do all that I possibly can to
restore confidence to Hong Kong. I cannot promise miracles.
But I can promise continued firm commitment on the part
of myself, the Foreign Office and the British Government.
