LETERVIEVER:
Britain has been accused of being dishonourable and
irresponsible, that is a very heart-felt feeling bare in Hong Long,
how would you ruspond to that?
HORNĪGI SECRETART:
I would reject both propositione vitkowit qualification.
Britain has been and will go on fulfilling its obligations as far as
they can be fulfilled to the people of Hong Kong. But neither we
nor the people of Hong Kong can escape from the fact that Hong Kong
is a uniquely successful society built under the shadow of the
world's largest communist society on the foundation of a lease that
runs out in 1997.
low those facts have dogged our life together and will
continue to do so. Hong Kong has done dramatically well in building
the succegs that it has done on that basis. Ve will go on doing
everything we can to try and secure that.
INTERVIEWER:

the nationality issue. If you had decided before you came, what
effect has your visit had?
