OMELCO Delegation to London
At yesterday's OMELCO In-house meeting it was
confirmed that an OMELCO delegation should go to London between 20 and 25 November and that the delegation should be comprised of Dr Daniel TSE, Mr HUI Yin-fat, Mr Andrew WONG, Mr Ronald Arculli, Mr J D McGregor and myself. We shall be joined for part of the visit by Mr John Swaine and Mr Martin Barrow, who will also be in London in mid-November. The objectives of the delgation are :
(a) To continue to persuade HMG that Britain has a moral
responsibility to provide a safe and secure future for the entire population of Hong Kong and a direct moral and constitutional responsibility to restore British citizenship to Hong Kong British subjects.
(b)
(c)
To seek support from the British public through the media and by other means for the OMELCO position on nationality.
To discuss with ministers, MPs and other prominent people in the U.K. the current situation in Hong Kong and issues of concern in Hong Kong e.g. the Basic Law, constitutional development, and Vietnamese boat people.
I understand that Ross Clarke, of the OMELCO Office in London, is already in touch with your office about the arrangements for the delegation we are most grateful for whatever assistance you and your staff are able to offer. should also be grateful for the opportunity of a meeting with you during our visit.
