1.
PS/Lord Glenarthur mentioned to me on 23 January that
Lord Glenarthur's preliminary thinking was to try to fit in a
further visit to Hong Kong in early July, in the course of a visit
that he was scheduled to make to the South Pacific in the period
30 June to 16 July.
2.
The Minister's thinking (very preliminary at this stage) was
to aim for a visit starting on Saturday, 1 July, or Sunday, 2 July,
and lasting until about Wednesday, 5 July. The structure would
follow that of the January visit: ie a quiet weekend, and a steady
progression of meetings through Monday to Wednesday.

Mr Court listed the following ideas of things to do:
Visit to the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank
and lunch with Mr Purves and the Directors
(Mr Purves has apparently issued an oral
invitation to Lord Glenarthur to do this).
A Prison.
The MTR
Macao (perhaps on Sunday, 2 July).
Tamar.
Tsimshatsui Shopping Centre.
(g) Kowloon Walled City (?)
Mr Court stressed that all this was very tentative and that
Lord Glenarthur is open to advice about optimum timing and other
considerations.
