Lord Glenarthur was grateful for your minute of 3 January, and for Mr McLaren's minute of 21 December (on a number of points of which action is in hand separately).

Lord Glenarthur endorses Mr McLaren's idea of bringing A forward the next visit to Hong Kong to June and linking it to
a visit to Korea. As a next step, he will take soundings of the Governor on his forthcoming visit to Hong Kong on whether a follow-up visit on this timing would be acceptable; if so, I shall let you know in order that you might consult Seoul.

Lord Glenarthur was grateful for the programme suggestions in your minute. He would indeed like to see more of the country, and is attracted to all the ideas you put forward. The Post will doubtless have their own views on which would be priorities for the visit.
