Will of course study second draft very carefully when it is published. As before will want to satisfy ourselves that Basic Law
accurately reflects provisions of Joint Declaration.
Sure Hong Kong people too will look carefully at second draft and put forward their views in same positive and constructive spirit
as during first consultation period.
Our dialogue with Chinese authorities on Basic Law has been a
fruitful one. We shall continue to ensure that views of Hong Kong
people are conveyed to Chinese authorities. Essential that Basic Law is a document in which Hong Kong people can have confidence.
