The Secretary of State will recall that Mr member of the Hong Kong Christian Industrial Comm0, pro-democracy activist who supported Chinese students in Peking with food, money and posters. He was detained by police at Peking airport on 5 June after boarding a flight to Hong Kong. eventually released and was evacuated safely on 8 June. The affair caused much concern in Hong Kong. Several members of LegCo petitioned the Governor about Mr Lee's case and their concerns were brought to the attention of No 10.
