Peking on 5 June, the Embassy made considerable efforts
to secure his release and he was able to return safely to
Hong Kong on 8 June. We have also made urgent and
repeated representations to the Chinese authorities at a
high level in Peking, Shanghai, Hong Kong and London on
behalf of Mr Yao Yong zhan, who is currently being
detained in Shanghai.

they can to help Hong Kong residents who encounter
difficulties in China. We are very conscious of the
