Developments in China: Impact on Hong Kong
The Secretary of State was grateful for your minute of 23 May. He agrees that the events in China are bound to create pressures for faster democratisation in Hong Kong. He also thinks that if there is a crackdown in China this will at the very least create greater pressures on us to do something for the 3.3 million British nationals.
