Item 1 Administrative Matters
-
1. Mr January apologised that on account of other pressing commitments, POD were not represented at the meeting. There would
therefore be no report on the staffing of Governors' posts.
2. Mr Magee reported that as part of the general exercise on the
revision of Governors' terms and conditions of service, he was
completing an analysis of the changes necessary to their system of
salaries and allowances. It was not though for PSD to take policy
decisions on this matter. There remained too the problem of
deciding which DS, colonial and local regulations should in future
apply to Governors. Mr January observed that the central problem in
this whole exercise was that the role of each of the personnel
departments remained unclear and hence open to dispute. He
recommended that when Mr Magee's analysis was ready, a further
sub-committee meeting of WIAD and the 3 personnel departments should
be held, so that the next stages of the exercise could be planned
and allocated clearly. Mr Dennis and Mr Magee agreed to this
proposal.
