HU CHUAN ZHONG
湖佐忠
COUNSELLOR
Joined HKMAO early 1989. He is still reading himself
in and his precise duties have not yet been defined. Served
as interpreter at Panmunjom, Korea 1974-1980, and worked in
Translation and Interpretation Department of MFA with
Mme Zhang Youyun and Wang Weiyang. Also served in Canberra
1980-84 and Melbourne 1984-88.
His wife, who also speaks English and studied in Colchester,
Essex in the early 70s, works in Education and Training
Hu? or wife? Department, MFA./ Speaks good English and a little French.
Visited UK twice (London and Manchester), in 1979 as
interpreter for Hua Guofeng. Clearly enjoyed both visits
and appreciated the good contacts he had with our High
Commission in Canberra and Consulate General in Melbourne.
A smart dresser in Western clothes, Hu was a little reserved on his first (and so far only) meeting with the Embassy,
but nevertheless open and friendly in conversation. Has a
nice sense of humour and likes Western classical music and
tennis.
