Preferred Destination of Emigration

The preferred destinations of emigration vary a lot between Chinese and non-Chinese. It is obvious that most Portuguese (82%) choose to return to Portugal. Around half of the Macanese who plan to emigrate (54%) also prefer Portugal while the rest will mainly go to Australia (13%), Brazil (10%), the U.S.A. (10%) and Canada (8%).
Chinese, on the other hand, prefer North America - Canada (29%), the U.S.A. (22%) followed by Australia (14%) and Taiwan (10%).
