MIAC comprises TAP, Ryan (Antonio Lopes, also represents BAC in Portugal). Ferreira is the government appointed Head of Sociedade do Aeroporto Internacional de Macau (of CAM), and has long experience of Lisbon Airport.

3. Cook said there were 8 UK citizens in Macau with him; he would supply all the consular details later. Three more were expected before long. Clearly BASL's position helped British industry - Nav aids, control tower and bridges had to be built into the design, and as such it could be tailored more towards UK equipment. At the same time BASL had to be seen as strictly neutral. They themselves were assured of preliminary and management design but not formally of project design yet, although they were already in practice onto that stage. The Airport would be worth at least £ll million to BASL, and possibly as much as £20 million, depending on their involvement in warehouse design etc.

4. The airport was due to be ready 4 years from date of 5% deposit on October 1993. Cook was sure the shovel full of earth would be moved before Shep Lap Kok was announced. He thought early 1994 was not totally impossible.

5. Work would be politically distributed. Piling design for the bridge structures to support the taxiways would be Portugese: runway reclaim would be Chinese. In general Cook thought the spoils would go one third Portugese, one third Chinese (mainland), one third Stanley Ho. Tenders would be for formality. Ferfeira's CAM board reflected this balance (3 groups of 3) perfectly.
