CHAPTER I GOVERNMENT GAZETTE
(2) In providing Chinese translations for notices in the Main Gazette, the following guidelines should be observed:

Names of persons, companies and organizations should appear in English only if Chinese names are not available;
In notices announcing honours and awards, names of persons should appear in English only if Chinese names are not available and honours and awards e.g. O.B.E., M.B.E., etc. should continue to be printed in English only:
For notices announcing awards of tenders by the Central Tender Board and subsidiary tender boards, only the main statement need be translated and a standardized
phrase such as 詳情請参闡英文版' should be used to refer readers to the English version for particulars;
For the purpose of translations, standardized versions of commonly used Chinese terminology and phrases, contained in 'Notes on the
the Chinese Translations of Goverment Gazette Notices', and issued from time to time, should be used.
(3) Legal Supplements Nos. 1, 2 and 3 should be printed in English and/or Chinese as appropriate (Explanatory Notes should have a Chinese translation).
(4) Notifications published in Special Supplement No. 4 of persons authorized under various Ordinances to perform certain functions or to practise a certain trade, etc. should be in both English and Chinese. (It may suffice to translate into Chinese only the introductory statement, informing the public what the persons on the lists are, and insert the Chinese names of these persons, if applicable.)
(5) Special Supplement No. 5 should be printed in English and/or Chinese as appropriate.
(6) Public Notices in Supplement No. 6 should be published in the language in which they are submitted.
(7) Legal Supplement No. 7 should be printed in English and/or Chinese as appropriate.
