CHAPTER I GOVERNMENT GAZETTE

(6) When Friday is a holiday the Gazette appears on the nearest previous working day. The closing dates in paragraphs (1) to (5) above are then similarly adjusted. When holidays occur on days which do not affect the publication date of the Gazette, an adjustment to the closing date should nevertheless be made to allow the usual number of full working days. Should any adjustment result in a closing date falling on a Sunday or Saturday then the actual closing time will be 2.30 p.m. on the previous Friday.

(1) The Government Printer is responsible for checking the proof of the Main Gazette. The originating departments and Secretariat policy branches must ensure that draft Notices are accurate in every respect before forwarding them to the Assistant Clerk of Councils and the Government Printer.

(2) It is the responsibility of the Head of the originating Department (or of the Legal

Legal Department in the case of Legal Supplements Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 7) to see that proofs of Supplements to the Gazette are properly checked and

checked and returned to the Government Printer without delay.

(3) The Government Printer has the right to amend spelling to conform with Collins' Authors' and Printers' Dictionary unless special arrangements have been agreed beforehand.

Keeping of the Gazette

106.

(1)

After publication, copies of the following should be placed into their respective post binders by each department and kept available:

(a) Main Gazette

(b) Supplement No. 1 ('Ordinances of Hong Kong')

(c)

(a)

Supplement No. 2 ('Regulations of Hong Kong')

Legal Supplement No. 7 ('authentic Chinese texts of Ordinances of Hong Kong')

The number of bound copies should be kept to the minimum, but one set must be prepared to accompany each complete set of the Laws whether in official use or in stock unissued. Supplement No. 3 ('Bills of Hong Kong') will normally be kept bound only by the Legal Department, but all Supplements may be kept as bound copies by any department that has the need.

(2) Departments should obtain post binders which will be used for both the collection and permanent retention of all parts of the Gazette for future reference. Post binders are obtainable from the Government Stationery Store, and orders for the supply of them should be submitted on a GF4.

107.

The index for Legal Supplements Nos. 1, 2, 3, 7 and Special Supplement No. 5 will be prepared by the Legal Department.
