Contents of the Gazette

The Gazette is published in eight parts:

(a) The Main Gazette;

(b) Legal Supplement No. 1 which contains ordinances;

(c) Legal Supplement No. 2 which contains regulations, etc. (see

G.R. 102(2));

(a) Legal Supplement No. 3 which contains bills;

(e) Special Supplement No. 4 which contains lists of registered

professional persons, etc. (see G.R. 102(4));

(f) Special Supplement No. 5 which contains Chinese translation of bills and other material not appropriate for inclusion in the Main Gazette or other supplement;

(g) Supplement

NO. 6 which contains public notices. and

advertisements;

(h) Legal Supplement No, 7 which contains authentic Chinese

texts of Ordinances.

The Main Gazette is a bilingual publication containing non-statutory material, e.g., appointments, notices, tenders, etc., and certain statutory notices and appointments which do not have the effect of adding to or amending the law. Gazette Notices are numbered 'G.N....., consecutively through the year with a new series for each calendar year. The same G.N. number will be applied to both the English and Chinese versions of a particular notice. Notices which appear on more than one occasion (e.g. notices calling for tenders) appear with the same serial number on each date of publication.

Advertisements appear, unnumbered, at the end of Supplement No. 6.

(1) Legal Supplement No. 1 contains the Ordinances passed by the Legislative Council and assented to by the Governor. Insertions in this supplement are not numbered as Gazette Notices or Legal Notices.

(2) Legal Supplement No. 2 contains the following legislation:

(a) Royal Warrants and Regulations made thereunder;

(b)

Acts of Parliament in force in Hong Kong which may be reprinted from time to time for local convenience;

(c) Orders of Her Majesty in Council, followed by Acts of Parliament specifically extended to Hong Kong by such Orders;

(d) Orders, Rules and Regulations made by Ministers of Her

Majesty's Government which extend to Hong Kong;

(e)

(f)

All Regulations, Rules and By-laws made in Hong Kong; Proclamations of the Governor;

(g) Notices of the following types, the subject matter of

which is regarded as being law of general application:

Orders of the Governor and the Governor in Council (except Orders declaring authentic Chinese texts of Ordinances which are placed in Legal Supplement No. 7), Legislative Council Resolutions, Determinations, etc.

Legal Notices in Supplement No. 2 are numbered 'L.N..... of 19..' consecutively through the year, with a new series for each calendar

year.
