Chinese Legal Seminar on Child Rights
Thank you for your letter of 26 April 1989.
I took the matter up with Perry Keller as you suggested. He had of course already received his own copy of the letter from Alyson Bailes and the prospectus for the seminar. Apparently the idea of sending somebody from Hong Kong was passed around various people in the Attorney General's Chambers but no one felt that
Hong Kong's interests, from the legal point of view, were great enough to warrant spending the money in participating. However, the papers were sent to Director of Social Welfare, Director of Education, the Law Society and the Hong Kong Bar. The latter three were not interested but the Director of Social Welfare, Mrs. Elizabeth Wong, is going to attend, accompanied by Mrs. Cecilia Tong, Senior Social Work Officer (Family).
I think we can mark the papers on this subject "enter and file"! "No further action"!
