Why not lift
reservation
if review
shows equality

to
A 4: Whilst we accept the principle of equal
pay
for equal
we work,
are not yet
convinced that legislation is necessary.
Q5: If after your review you find that there
is generally equal pay for equal work, will you propose withdrawing the reservation in respect of Article 7(a) (1) ?
A 5 As I have said, my understanding of the Article is that it would, in effect,
require us to legislate. I am not yet
convinced that this is necessary.
Consultation Q 6 Will you consult on this issue?
A 6 As I have said,
we have consulted
the
appropriate
committee of the
Labour
Advisory Board from time to time and will
continue to do so.
