FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE ENQUIRY INTO HONG KONG:
SECRETARY OF STATE'S FORMAL EVIDENCE, 14 JUNE
1.
The Secretary of State is giving formal evidence to the Foreign Affairs Committee on 14 June. I submit a brief, which incorporates the detailed comments and suggestions of Mr McLaren.
2. The brief has been refined and amplified to take account of the Secretary of State's comments on the earlier version which I
submitted at the end of last week; and of the Governor's evidence
to the FAC on 12 June. It also takes account as far as possible of latest developments in China and on Vietnamese boat people.
3.
I have flagged the key references for the Secretary of State.
I will be bringing a fuller set of reference with me to the evidence
session tomorrow.
