SECRETARY OF STATE'S EVIDENCE SESSION,
We have carefully checked the proof copy of the Secretary of State's evidence circulated under cover of Mr Dickerson's minute of
29 March and made a number of manuscript corrections. We have marked both factual errors and inaccuracies which have crept in as the result of over compression in the editing process. In several C224 cases the BBC transcript is more accurate than the slightly edited
version prepared by the Committee's stenographers and we have suggested following the BBC's wording.

We have identified several cases where it may be necessary to provide additional information by way of amplification either as a Footnote to the Evidence or as a supplementary Memorandum. I attach list of such cases, which takes account of suggestions by Mr McLaren, with whom we have discussed the proof copy.
3. The proof copy of our Memorandum, which is reproduced at the head of the Oral Evidence, has also been corrected in manuscript.
