is different for historical and constitutional reasons.
Present British Nationality law reflects views of Parliament as expressed during passage of British Nationality Act 1981 and earlier
legislation dating back to 1960s.
(If necessary) Self evident that numbers involved in cases of
Hong Kong and Macao are of quite different order. But that is not key consideration.
