In many cases All polls indicate wide variation of opinion. these other polls were arguably conducted in less thorough and careful way than AGB McNair survey.
Survey Office report records the results of nine "territory wide" surveys, in addition to two AGB McNair surveys.
These give mixed picture of responses to option of introducing direct elections in 1988. Support for this option varied between 25.9% and 62%. Five recorded less than 50% support for this option.
