1. Please refer to my letter DGO 380/2 of 16′ November in (10) which I promised to let you have the reaction of the Bermuda Government to the proposal that Bermuda should increase its contribution towards the operating costs of the Commonwealth Commercial Fraud Officer and Crime Unit. At their meeting on Tuesday, 8 December 1987 the Cabinet agreed that the Bermuda Government should make a contribution of pounds sterling 6,000 towards the 1988/89 operating costs of the Commonwealth Commercial Fraud Unit.
2.
The Director of Budget has asked if by way of supporting information for his files he could be informed how and by whom the annual budget for the Crime Unit is set and approved each year; who else other than the United Kingdom and Hong Kong currently contributes towards the Unit's costs; which other territories has Hong Kong suggested should contribute in future towards the United Kingdom's share and to whom should Bermuda's contribution be forwarded when the annual payment is due?
I would be grateful if you could put together this information in a letter which I could then pass on to the Ministry of Finance.
ever,
your trim hard
B.G.J. Canty
