Judicial Assistance - Hong Kong and Guangdong: In the last issue we reported.. the conclusion of a judicial assistance? agreement between the Hong Kong Supreme Court and the Guangdong High People's Court. Details of the agreement were not available at the time of publishing that issue: and accordingly we have attempted to pursue the matter. However,s attempts to obtain:a copy of this agreement have been thwarted! Most recently, we were told by a privatel source that there is in fact no formall agreement but merely:n exchange of letters between the Registrar of the Supreme Court and the President of the Guangdong People's High Court. According to our source, the
greement relates only to the mutual service) of documents. In this regard, the Supreme! Court has informed us that:

In due course, after service, formal Certificate of Service will be provided.
Documents for service in Hong Kong will be forwarded to the Registrar, Supreme Court by the Higher Peoples Court of Guangdong and will be served by the Supreme Court by post or personally by the bailiff if such request is made."
