TRAVEL AGENTS (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1988

(No. 70 of 1988)

This Ordinance amends the Travel Agents Ordinance

for the following purposes -

to make continuing membership of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong a statutory condition of licensing for all travel agents so

so as to enable the travel industry to regulate its own members;

to abolish the statutory Reserve Fund which will be replaced by a non-statutory compensation fund operated by the travel industry; and

to empower the Registrar of Travel Agents to give directions to the Travel Industry Council in the event of the refusal, suspension or revocation of membership of an applicant for a travel agent's licence or of a licence holder.

Before the Deputy to the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
