Based on results of the General Household Surveys conducted by the Census and Statistics Department. Figures for 1981 refer to the 4th quarter position.
Only one combined figure for matriculation and post-secondary education was available from the General Household Surveys before 1985. Separate figures have been estimated by applying the 1985 distribution for these two groups.
Figures prior to 1985 are not strictly comparable with those for 1985 and after due to change in classification system introduced in the beginning of 1985.
Referring to the 7 major resettlement countries only: Canada, U.S.A, Australia, U.K., Netherlands, West Germany and New Zealand.
For Canada, figures are estimated by applying the distribution of education attainment found in the CNCC to the total no. of successful visa
applicants.
Adjustments have been
made to take into account the fact that CNCCs are not required for minor dependents.
For the other countries, the education particulars are gathered from the voluntary return forms from the Consulates.
Figures may include some persons who have not actually attained the respective education level.
