I enclose herewith a copy of my letter to you of February 22, 1988 with the attachment from "Variety" of January 6,
6, 1988 together with the response I received from the Hong Kong desk of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
As you can see, Your Majesty, this response is completely nonresponsive. What needs to be examined is the so-called survey. It is necessary to know
1. How were the 570 so-called "members of public" selected?
2. Was this a valid cross section of the
community scientifically selected? A proper
"universe?"
3. What were the techniques of sampling? E.g., Personal Interview? Telephone Interviews Questionnaires? Personally Distributed
Questionnaires.
4.
sampling?
5.
6.
Was it a random or representative
Was the size of the sample adequate?
Was it free of a bias liable to distort
the results?
7. What were the exact questions asked?
8. Were the persons interviewed given still pictures of the explicit sex?
9. Were they given an adequate description of the degree of explicitness contemplated?
