Work on Hong Kong is a key commitment for the
Government. As I said in the recent debate,
it has been a continuously important item on
my personal agenda as Foreign Secretary.

British interest; and it will continue to be
after 1997 a major market for British
exports and investments, and home for many
millions of British nationals, for whose
future we have worked, will go on working, to
the limit of our capacity.
