REGISTRATION OF LOCAL NEWSPAPERS (AMENDMENT) BILL 1988

A BILL
To
Amend the Registration of Local Newspapers Ordinance.
Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent
of the Legislative Council thereof.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Registration of Local News- Short title papers (Amendment) Ordinance 1988.
2. Section 2 of the Registration of Local Newspapers Ordinance is Interpretation amended-.-
(Cap. 268)
(a) in the definition of "printed document" by adding at the end
thereof
"but does not include
(a) any document solely intended and solely used for a bona fide and ordinary commercial, professional, social or administrative purpose; or
(b) any other document issued or used by any public
body"; and
(b) by adding after the definition of "proprietor"-
(Cap. 201)
"public body" has the same meaning as it has in the Preven-
tion of Bribery Ordinance;".
3. Section 7 is amended by adding after subsection (1)—
Registration of local
"(1A) No local newspaper shall be registered under subsection (1) newspapers by a name which is identical with the name by which another local newspaper is already registered.".
