Mr W. Purves declared an interest as Chairman of the

Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. Against the

background of inflationary expectations, he expressed concern

at the increase in bank licence fees provided in the Banking

(Amendment) Bill 1988 pointing out that these fees were

royalty loaded.
