The lion's share of loans and advances made throughout 1987 would seem to have been made to officials of Tai Sang Bank or people or companies associated with these officials. The balance of the loans and advances have probably been to other members and friends of the Ma clan who are not officials of Tai Sang Bank, and, therefore, are not required to be disclosed.

Deposits increased in 1987 by 38.33 percent, from $HK77.26 million to $HK106.87 million in 1987.

The bank is in a very cash-rich position, with $HK186.28 million cash on hand in 1987 compared with $HK108.15 million in 1986.

In 1987, Tai Sang Bank had $HK2.91 million invested in listed and unlisted shares compared with $HK2.13 million in

1986.

The bank has a 20.90-percent interest in Express Motors

Ltd and is engaged in property invest- ments and develop-

ment.

Each year, most of the Bank's profits are distributed as dividends, and 1987 was no exception.

Approximately 73 percent of Tai Sang Bank's 1987 Profits of $HK7.81 million, that is $HK5.67 million, is to be distributed as dividends.
