A take-over bid is expected to be made for Panin

Holdings Ltd by the Chinese Government interests already involved in the Group.
And after that, Panin Holdings is expected to be privatized.
When asked whether Panin Holdings was going to privatize, Mr Eugene Ho replied: 'I am sure you appreciate I am not in a position to comment on anything of significance... (It would be) a serious breach of business ethics.'
The take-over rumours come one year after Vigour Fine Company Ltd, a wholly- owned Hongkong subsidiary of the State-owned, China-based, Fujian Investment and Enterprise Corporation, became the single largest shareholder in Panin Holdings.
The purchase of Panin shares by Vigour Fine was promptly followed by the ushering-in of a number of Directors from China onto the Board of Panin Holdings during 1987 and 1988.
There are seemingly, 3 types of companies now in Hongkong: The first is the 'blue-chip'; the second line is termed the 'second-liner'; and the third-liner is the
company which is run by the mainland Chinese.
