An Ordinance to amend the Money Lenders Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent
of the Legislative Council thereof.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Money Lenders (Amendment) Short title and Ordinance 1988 and shall come into operation on a day to be appointed by commencement the Governor by notice in the Gazette.
2.
(1) Section 2(1) of the Money Lenders Ordinance is amended-
(a) by adding before the definition of "disqualified person"-
""company" means a body corporate-

(a) incorporated under the Companies Ordinance;
(b) incorporated by any other Ordinance; or
(c) incorporated or established outside Hong Kong;";
(b) in the definition of "effective rate" by repealing "the Second
Schedule" and substituting "Schedule 2”;
(c) in the definition of "firm" by repealing "bodies corporate"
wherever it appears and substituting “companies”;
(d) in the definition of "licence" by repealing “issued under section 8 or 13" and substituting "granted under section 11 or renewed under section 13";
