The

comprehensive arrangements would pose problems of a

practical nature for the Vietnamese Government.

British and Hong Kong Governments were ready in

principle to contribute to their solution through

the good offices of the UNHCR. Meanwhile, pending

agreement on a comprehensive scheme, it was agreed

in the first instance of a batch of one hundred boat

people in camps in Hong Kong who have asked to

by the Hong Kong Government and the UNHCR.

Both sides agreed to stay in close touch via

the diplomatic channel in order to implement the

decisions reached in London and recorded in this

statement quickly and expeditiously.
