"THIS WEEK" VIETNAMESE BOAT PEOPLE
1. The Secretary of State has agreed to be interviewed by Thames
Television for their programme "This Week" which will go out at 8.30 pm on Thursday 15 December. The interview will take place in Room
WH240 at 10.00 am on 13 December.
The interviewer will be Peter
Gill.

(i)
bull points;
(ii) an outline of the proposed programme.

We expect Peter Gill to pursue the following line of
questioning:
(la) Why has the British Government instituted "16 June"
policy; and is it determined to carry it through even though it
could involve boat people being sent back to Vietnam against
their will?
(lb) Will the boat people thus be forced onto aeroplanes
returning to Vietnam?
