I was pleased to be present in July when the agreement was
signed by representatives of ICM and Cho Ray Hospital.
agreement is the culmination of many years of efforts to address
effectively the medical problems of people who are applying to resettle in various countries through the Orderly Departure
Program.
With the agreement, and the outstanding work being done
by Dr. Per Spenning, the ICM physician in Ho Chi Minh City, ICM
has again demonstrating its indispensable role in providing
assistance to refugees and migrants throughout the world. We
appreciate the dedication with which the Vietnamese authorities,
and the Vietnamese doctors and nurses of the special medical
team, are carrying out the agreement.
While the agreement has resulted in more efficient and
accurate processing of medical examinations, we continue to
experience some difficulties in the performance of the
examinations. We hope that by working closely with the ICM
medical coordinator, the Vietnamese special medical team can
resolve these problems.
