Conclusion

In conclusion, let me

let me reassure the House that we shall continue

to devote all our efforts to tackling all aspects of this complex

and tragic problem. In so doing we shall continue to work closely

with the Hong Kong authorities, with the UNHCR and with the

international community as a whole, to identify effective and humane

solutions. We are far from complacent about what has been achieved

so far; nor do we underestimate the difficulties which remain to be

resolved. Today's short debate has been useful in giving the House an opportunity to make their own views known. I can assure Hon

members that the Government will continue to pay the closest

attention to the concerns which have been expressed here today.
