this context, Malaysia welcomed the decision of Vietnam to expand and expedite the Orderly Departure Programme which would provide
the sole channel for departures of Vietnamese migrants. called upon other countries to step up their acceptance of those
Vietnamese who wish to resettle in other countries.

Vietnam
agreed to receive the repatriation of existing

boat people from Malaysia who wish to return to their homeland. Vietnam agreed to send a team of officials to Malaysia as possible for the purpose of discussing specific measures to implement this agreement. On its part, Malaysia is prepared to consider
extending some kind of assistance
within her limited means.
It was agreed that both sides will work out the modality of executing these agreements. Both sides called on the international community
to extend assistance to this programme.
