My conclusion is that our best strategy would be to steer SOAS away from the topic of refugees altogether. might more usefully be pointed towards a more general South-East Asian issue on which we might derive more direct benefit from exchanges with academics. The future prospects for Vietnam or the options for resolving the Cambodian problem would be obvious topics for this sort of wider discussion.
