An Ordinance to amend the Insurance Companies Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent
of the Legislative Council thereof.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Insurance Companies Short title. (Amendment) Ordinance 1988.
2. Section 5(1) of the principal Ordinance is amended-
(a) in paragraph (b) by inserting after "such insurer" the following-
"including any conditions imposed under section 8(1)(a) which impose restrictions on the carrying on of such class or classes of insurance business by that insurer";
(b) in paragraph (c) by deleting “and”;
(c) in paragraph (d) by deleting "effect." and substituting the
following-
"effect; and"; and
(d) by inserting after paragraph (d) the following-
“(e) where an authorized insurer ceases by virtue of a direc- tion under section 40 to be authorized to carry on insurance business which is part of a class of insurance business, a note to that effect.".
