Derailment of LRV: Thursday, 17 March 1988
An LRV became derailed by one pair of wheels outside the LRT depot in Lung Mun Road whilst carrying out a slow speed shunting movement through a set of trailing points in the
the facing direction, at 0954 hours. The vehicle had experienced a propulsion system fault and was being moved clear to allow other vehicles to depart from the depot. The points concerned had not been commissioned, and were not properly adjusted. There was a gap between the right hand switch blade and stock rail which the leading wheel entered, thus causing the derailment.
