In the event that the findings of the Railway Inspector indicate that major remedial or improvement works are necessary, the LRT could not be open for passenger service on 8 August as originally scheduled. The KCRC is drawing up contingency plans. In addition, the KMB internal bus services in the North-west TSA should be retained until the LRT becomes operational. For this
this purpose, a revised Order made under section 5(5) of the Public Bus Services Ordinance (Chapter 230) at Annex C has been prepared. This Order will supersede the Order made in June 1987 restricting the picking up and setting down of passengers by KMB in the North-west TSA with effect from 8 August 1988. The Order will come into effect if the official opening of the LRT is put back beyond 8 August 1988.
