I was very interested to read your report of your discussions with CLP on the future power requirements of Hong Kong and Guangdong Province.
On your paragraph 7, did Mr Stones give any indication of why NEI could not substitute for Babcocks? Although it is certainly true that NEI's price for the Rihand II boilers was on the high side, I suspect that this in large part reflected their experiences on Rihand I and I would not draw the general conclusion that NEI are now uncompetitive in this area (their recent successes with CEGB suggest the reverse to be the case).
